Brian Adams enjoys breaking problems into ever smaller problems until the solution becomes obvious.
This began at a young age when he discovered the TI-85’s BASIC interpreter could be used to do homework easier. From then-on he was hooked on technology and the unique solutions it makes possible. He dove into learning as many programming languages as possible. He soon realized languages don’t solve problems, people do.
Throughout his career in healthcare, insurance, and now in third party risk management, Brian has excelled at building highly effective teams of analysts, designers, and developers. As Chief Technology Officer at Venminder, Inc., he has helped build an industry leading provider of third-party risk management solutions. He loves getting his hands dirty at the whiteboard. He enjoys working with clients and other team members. He geeks out over the perfect workflow. He still writes code when he can.
In his down time, Brian enjoys scuba diving in tropical locations. When nowhere near an ocean, he can be found bowling with his son or sitting on the back porch reading books out loud with his wife. He travels as often as he can.
Brian is inspired by recursion, rollercoasters, his wife, and his son.

Mary Baum CEO of BA&T a healthcare consulting firm. Mary is currently the Chief Strategy Officer for Excel Medical. A firm poised to change how we use data in real time to benefit clinician’s and patient outcomes. Her understanding of the full spectrum of healthcare from device, diagnostics, pharmaceutical, provider and payer has fed her understanding of healthcare and brings value to any firm. She has worked with hundreds of hospitals worldwide specializing in clinical workflow. The day of buying technology and having it drop-shipped to a loading dock is over. Clinical teamwork process needs to be re-thought, as we add tools and move from reactive to proactive/predictive. How we practice medicine and continue to learn and share what works is critical – it requires the support of new tools, new ways of collecting data and shared best practice. She is widely published on clinical process re-design and cross-team collaboration. Mary is passionate about making a difference in healthcare – pouring her passion into many large-scale programs. Currently she is building a Children’s Hospital Network to share best practice/evidence-based learnings for physiological monitoring and surveillance.
Biggest learnings: you must stay curious and continue to learn. Academics are great they teach you how to learn but the responsibility is yours to be a lifetime learner. Do what you love – passion is vital. Then you are in a perfect place to be creative, nonlinear, see patterns and connect disparate dots and innovate.
What inspires you? My entire professional career has been focused around engineering approaches to problem solving for the best outcomes.
I’m continually inspired by processes that make things better, whether at home or in business. It doesn’t matter if I’m cooking or thinking about healthcare delivery, I’m always focused on reducing steps for efficiency and time management. It’s key to anticipate where the next step is, otherwise your dinner could be cold or things that are supposed to be crispy get soggy…and in healthcare, the outcomes can be much more impactful.
